The Senior Manager, Product Development Owned Brands is responsible for growing this critical company initiative. Working across the organization, this individual will develop strategy, produce research to customize assortments, communicate product needs and help guide the marketing efforts.

A successful Senior Manager of Owned Brands is highly creative and knows what is trending. This individual must have the innate ability to be agile in an ever-changing environment. It is critical that the Senior Manager have strong relationships with brands and manufacturers.


  • Manage the optimum product assortment to maximize the customer opportunity and Vitamin Shoppe s productivity
  • Conduct consumer research to further gain a deeper understanding of our target customer, ensuring innovation pipeline is compelling, trend-right and on-brand
  • Gather customer data, desires and needs and bring these concepts back to the Private Brands teams with a clear and succinct recommendation, scope of opportunity and plan
  • Clearly understand Vitamin Shoppe s strategy and approach to personalization and recognize new opportunities, work with assigned medical/nutritionist advisors to introduce and improve on current state
  • Assessing client needs, using a consultative approach and an understanding of the challenges faced by their business or industry to link our products to their business success
  • Develop an exceptional understanding of, and staying current on, the product functionality and its application to specific clients
  • Manage and own communication regarding wholesale and personalization regarding changes to existing items, new items, content needs, formulas, etc.
  • Identify white spaces within a product assortment, and then propose disruptive, on-brand ideas that will drive market share growth.
  • Evaluate what is working from an assortment standpoint with each key customer group to keep the offerings fresh while understanding what did not work and why.
  • Provide assistance to developing sales strategies across categories
  • Ensure products meet client expectations. Gather feedback and requirements; communicate changes to the development team; and oversee seamless, high-quality rollouts to on-time and on-budget conclusion
  • Develop and maintain product launch timeline and product specifications to relevant internal teams, such as marketing, inventory, logistics
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree required or revelent work experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of product development experience
  • Formulation, packaging and product marketing experience
  • Ability to prepare a product road map and timeline with budgeting
  • Demonstrated experience in managing product gross margin and operating expense
  • Highly organized and results driven with the ability to handle competing priorities
  • Proven exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written at all levels
  • Autonomous work style possessing strong sense of collaboration, creativity and results driven
  • Exceptional problem solving and negotiating skills
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
