The role of Senior Exchange and Windows Administrator is responsible for system administration, operational management and support of on-premises and cloud based Exchange environment and other Windows server infrastructure. Additionally, this role is the primary support contact for all Windows based administrative and distribution assets and business processes. Senior Exchange and Windows Administrator provide support to the Infrastructure Lead in the development and deployment of major infrastructure initiatives. This role will also provide level 2 support and assist end user support specialists when necessary for all corporate / end user support requests.


System / Application Administration Responsibilities

  • Provide operational administration of an on-prem Exchange 2010 and Office 365 environments (Upgrade to on-prem environment in plan)
  • Upgrade Exchange from 2010 to 2013 / 2016.
  • Provide operational management and vendor management of 3rd party email archiving and email protection services
  • Responsible for the management and documentation of the Active Directory user account life cycle management process in accordance with all corporate policies, standard and procedures
  • Develop, document, test and deploy Active Directory delegation controls to allow technical services team members the ability to perform daily operational tasks such as password resets and system group management
  • Develop, document, test and deploy group policies that support secure server, workstation and laptop standards
  • Responsible for IT asset inventory management and storage
  • Develop, test, document and institute deployment procedures for all corporate standard systems and applications
  • Ensure all Windows system and application security patches and service packs are up-to-date and in accordance with patch management procedures
  • Ensure all windows based systems have anti-virus / malware controls in place and up-to-date and managed by corporate AV server
  • Maintain and enforce adherence to all corporate policies, standards and procedures
  • Technical and Support Requirements

  • Respond, resolve, document resolution and close level 2 service requests based on corporate policies, standards and procedures
  • Responsible for the installation, configuration, documentation, administration and support of Windows based 3rd party business administration and distribution applications
  • Responsible for the management and support of the corporate email service
  • Provide level 2 and overflow support to end user support specialist(s) when required
  • Designated as primary point of contact responsible for the support and operational management of all Windows based administrative and distribution assets and business applications. Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate and manage vendors to perform troubleshooting, issue resolution and root cause analysis of problems that impact administrative and distribution assets / applications
  • Technical analysis and documentation of critical administrative and distribution business applications and processes to support the problem resolution process
  • Identify, communicate, recommend, plan and remediate reliability concerns around administrative and distribution business assets and supporting infrastructure
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware and applications for corporate-wide deployment
  • Assist senior architect in the testing of system / application recovery procedures that support the IT disaster recovery plan
  • Learn from and assist other technical services team members as needed
  • Operational Responsibilities

  • Ensure operational efficiency of all Windows based servers by performing and monitoring daily system checks
  • Ensure the operational efficiency of all key Windows based business applications and processes by performing and monitoring daily process checks
  • Qualifications


  • Associates Degree in Information Technology or equivalent combination of intellectual instruction and work experience
  • Required Knowledge :

  • In-depth knowledge of Exchange environment (2010, 2013, 2016 and Office 365) including migration to O365
  • Extended knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems and server application (Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, SMS, etc.)
  • Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in information technology
